Provost Academic Travel Award Overview

The Provost Academic Travel Award supports full-time faculty at 51ºÚÁÏ in presenting research or serving on panels at local, state, national, or international conferences and workshops. Events must be sponsored by recognized professional societies or institutions and contribute to academic scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Full-time faculty employed at 51ºÚÁÏ for at least one year may apply.
  • Applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the planned travel date.

Award Details

  • The maximum award is $2,000 per semester, which may be used to cover travel, registration, lodging, or per diem expenses.
  • Funding is competitive. All Provost Academic Travel Award applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee, and recommendations will be forwarded to the Provost for final approval. Approval is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Award funds are reimbursed to the faculty member’s department after:

  • Travel is completed;
  • A signed Travel Authorization Form is approved by the chair and dean;
  • A completed Post Activity Report is submitted, along with required receipts.

Note: Awardees are required to present their research or scholarly activity at the Provost Travel Award Research Symposium, held each December at 51ºÚÁÏ. This annual event provides a platform to share outcomes with faculty, staff, students, and guests. Additional symposium details will be shared during the fall semester.

If selected for funding:

  • Faculty must initiate the Travel Authorization process, including any required supporting forms (e.g., Lodging Exemption Form, if applicable).
  • Following the trip, faculty must submit a Chrome River Expense Report with scanned receipts.
  • Within 10 business days of returning, recipients must complete and submit the , detailing how the travel supported their professional development.
  • Awardees are also expected to share their findings or outcomes at the Provost Travel Award Research Symposium.
