Registering as a Vendor: Understanding eVA
To conduct business with 51ºÚÁÏ, vendors MUST be registered in the essential Commonwealth of Virginia systems called eVA (Electronic Virginia). eVA is the state’s electronic procurement portal that facilitates solicitations, bidding, and contract management.
eVA is the state’s central marketplace, connecting vendors with public procurement opportunities across Virginia agencies, including 51ºÚÁÏ. Vendors registered in eVA gain access to electronic solicitations, bidding tools, and notifications about upcoming purchasing opportunities aligned with their products or services. The system streamlines procurement processes by providing transparency and efficiency, benefiting both the university and its suppliers.
To register in eVA, visit the official and complete your profile with accurate business details, including your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), contact information, and descriptions of goods or services you provide. eVA also allows you to indicate your certification status, such as (SWaM). 51ºÚÁÏ’s Commitment to SWaM: Driving Economic Inclusion with a 42% Goal
51ºÚÁÏ is deeply committed to advancing supplier diversity and promoting economic inclusion through the Commonwealth’s Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) program. Our institutional goal is to ensure that 42% of our procurement spending supports SWaM-certified businesses, a figure that reflects our dedication to empowering historically underrepresented businesses in our community.
SWaM certification, managed by the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (DSBSD), validates a business as either small, woman-owned, or minority-owned, and opens doors to specialized procurement opportunities. Being SWaM-certified enhances your visibility in the marketplace and increases your chances of receiving contracts with 51ºÚÁÏ and other state agencies.
We strongly encourage vendors to pursue SWaM certification if eligible and to maintain updated certification status within eVA. By doing so, you actively contribute to 51ºÚÁÏ’s mission to foster diversity, equity, and economic growth while gaining competitive advantage within Virginia’s public sector contracting arena.
How to Get SWaM Certified
- Visit the Virginia DSBSD SWaM certification webpage:
- Review eligibility criteria for Small, Women-owned, or Minority-owned business certification.
- Complete the online application and submit required documentation.
- Once certified, update your SWaM status in your eVA profile to ensure proper recognition.
